The Trailer For Disney's Mary Poppins Returns Is Here And It Looks Absolutely Magical

The1964 Disney classic, Mary Poppins has been a childhood favorite throughout multiple generations. A timeless and iconic story that has delighted families for decades, it has broken through to the stage and can be seen imitated in modern media on a regular basis. After a long, long wait, a new movie approaches and we couldn't be more excited if we tried!

Smack dab in the middle of the Oscars we finally got to see the trailer for Mary Poppins Returns, set to hit theaters this Christmas and the only words that suffice to describe the movie Mary Poppins herself would surely approve of; magical and delightful!

Variety

Mary Poppins Returns is set in Depression-era London with characters Jane and Michael Banks now very much grown-up.

With a little help from Disney, we know that Mary Poppins, this time played by the talented Emily Blunt, comes back to visit Jane and Michael (played by Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw) after they experience a 'personal loss.' Her magic-touch is needed desperately to help the Banks children, and their own children, just what they need to cope and overcome. Of course, Mary is not alone, she brings her friend Jack played by Lin-Manuel Miranda to help her and the Banks family once again.

As the trailer continues we then see a trash bin loaded with the original, mended kite from the 1964 classic still in our hearts. The gloom and sadness is momentarily overwhelming when a gust of wind arrives in the nick of time to cast the kite flying high in the sky.Disney
Cascading along the wind, the kite swoops past a man on a bicycle and then past another on a park bench before we see the blonde-haired little boy, Georgie Banks (Michael's son, played by Joel Dawson) chase after it.Disney
Georgie catches the kite but struggles with it, the strong winds try with all their might, gust after gust, to rip it from his clutches.Disney
Then, the man on the bicycle is helping him regain control. This man is Mary Poppin's friend, Jack!Disney
Then, the other young Banks children, John and Anabel (played by Nathanael Saleh and Pixie Davies) are seen running up as well before the trailer cuts to Mary Poppins in all her magical glory cascading down from the sky once again.Disney

Soon after, we hear the now adult Michael Banks say, 'Mary Poppins, it is wonderful to see you.'Disney
Looking in the mirror, Mary Poppins replies, 'yes, it is, isn't it?' And of course, perhaps one of the best parts is that as she walks away from the mirror, her reflection remains and peers after her, leaving us all shivering with delight and excitement!Cosmopolitan
