Golden Child Brother Tries To Emotionally Manipulate His Sister Into Giving Up Their Grandparent's House She Inherited
Inheritance is a tense issue for a lot of families. The size and monetary value of the inheritance don’t matter, there will always be a family member who would feel that they were more deserving of someone else’s share.

A 29-year-old woman found this out when her family ties were tested after her grandfather’s passing. OP’s (original poster) parents raised her in a religious home.
Her parents taught her traditional gender roles ever since she was young. Her grandfather hated the way OP was brought up.
As she grew older, she began to share her grandparents’ views. Their shared values became the foundation of their strong bond.
OP admits that she is closer to her grandparents than to her own parents. Her older brother, on the other hand, has been anointed by their parents as the family’s “second king of the house.”
Her grandfather has several health issues one of which badly affected his back. It got worse over time until it completely affected his daily routine.
After OP’s grandmother passed away, the grandfather’s condition got even worse. It was at that point that he needed professional care.
Her grandfather refused and was adamant about not having a stranger in his home. OP’s parents awfully said that the grandpa’s condition was payback for all his sins.
They refused to take care of him and planned to put him in a home. OP stepped in and decided to live with her grandfather.
It wouldn’t be a problem because she has the option to work from home and that way, her grandfather doesn’t have to adjust to having a stranger in his house. This turned out to be the best choice.
Having OP in his home meant a lot to her grandpa. OP shared that the house was once again filled with the same happiness as when her grandmother was still alive.
The entire time, no one from OP’s family called to check on the grandfather’s worsening condition. OP and her grandpa even joked about this.
The old man teased that he should just give Missy (the house) to OP. He initially planned to leave it to OP’s dad who would end up giving it to the “second king.”
The house was very special according to OP; it has a beautiful garden, trees, and they had no neighbors. Her grandparents have paid off the house after long years of hard work.
OP thought he was just joking about it since he was laughing while he said it. The unthinkable came and OP found her grandfather long gone.
She called her parents to tell them the sad news. They bonded over their grief during the funeral and OP confessed that this was the first time in years that they genuinely connected.
Their newfound connection was severed immediately when the grandfather’s will was read. According to the will, OP was set to inherit the house and other valuables that were originally intended for her father.
They all accused OP of manipulating her grandfather into giving her the house. A week later, her brother, the second king, came knocking.
He was begging OP to give him her house because his place is not big enough for his wife and baby. He pointed out that OP has no need for the house since it’s just her and her husband plus they have no plans of having kids.
OP told him to leave but she felt horrible about it. She’s guilty because she knows she makes good money and she can afford to live elsewhere if she really wanted.
However, she doesn’t think her grandpa would want her dad or her brother to have the house. Is OP the a**hole for refusing to give up the house she inherited?
"I decided to stay with him"
"But then it came time for the will..."
"I don't need it?"
What kind of delusion is it when you believe you still deserve the house of the person you offended so immensely?
That's their threshold for a sinner?
If it wasn't grandpa or grandma who indoctrinated OP's dad, who did?
He was influenced by his wife and her family but decided to take it up a notch
OP has an opportunity here to live in a house where she learned about love and completely cut contact with the people who tried to brainwash her
At least OP can keep Missy knowing that she deserves her
Yeah, what gives? How come they want the house of a man they condemned?
If OP relents and gives up the house then she would be going againts her grandfather's wishes thereby insulting him
The love is very evident on OP's post
This is such a wholesome anecdote!
Simply put, OP cared for her grandpa out of love. Her family didn't even take care of him yet the expect a reward
Precisely. They waited for him to die so they can get their hands on his properties.
They should really pull themselves up by the bootstraps and stop drinking expensive coffee
You don't get it, they can pick and choose which rules to follow when it suits them
He shouldn't be expected to work hard to get a good life! He deserves it and OP should just do him this solid favor!
A hospice nurse gave OP a much-needed perspective
OP gave her grandfather the best sunset years any person at that state could have asked for
We hope OP knows how amazing she is
Finally, OP realized that she shouldn't feel any guilt. It also looks like she's about to have some interesting embroideries in her beloved home.
It took a lot of hard work and love for OP to break out of the religious bubble her parents created for her. Her grandparents, especially her grandfather, were instrumental to her growth.
OP was incredibly lucky to have had a chance to have their support and love even after their passing. We hope she finds solace and comfort in the house full of loving memories that they left for her.
