Donkey And His Owner Reunite After A Terrible Wildfire Separated Them

Travis Ochs from Colorado faced a heartbreaking situation. When the massive CalWood wildfire approached his home, he had to evacuate and leave everything behind, including his much-loved donkey named Ennis.

Ochs had attempted to move Ennis and several horses into a trailer to take them to safety. But the ranger who came to his aid insisted he should leave them behind as the flames were dangerously close to the house.

So, Ochs was forced to leave the property without Ennis and one horse named Adam. "It was horrifying," Ochs told the reporters. He thought he'd never see Ennis and Adam again, but luckily, he was wrong.

After a restless night wondering about his beloved animals' faith, Ochs received the news he'd been wishing for.

The firefighters have found both animals, alive and well. Together, they've survived the blazes, which destroyed many buildings on Ochs' land.

Ochs could finally return to his home and reunite with his four-legged friends:

Ennis and Adam were extremely lucky and had made it through this ordeal with just singed hair. And even though Ochs did lose some material belongings to the blaze, the fact that the animals are alive and well is the most important thing to him.

“I’m just thankful we were all able to get out of there alive,” Ochs told the reporters. “There were a couple (of) times I didn’t think that was going to happen. It was a happy ending to an otherwise dark and scary day.”
