Being in an emotional partnership implies so much more than just romantic gestures, candlelight dinners, and cuddling up in front of the fireplace. A partnership is about standing by each other in difficult times and worrying about each other.
But can you worry too much? Of course. There are some people who tend to overreact even to the smallest things.
But when your partner is missing for 12 hours, doesn’t answer the phone, or reads their messages, being worried is not overreacting. Nope, it is a normal and humane thing to do.
Well, some people don’t think so. And we have one of those stories today. Some people will go to great lengths to make sure that anything is okay when it comes to the security and well-being of a loved one.
Consider the case of the man whose fiancé went missing after failing to return home all night. To discover whether they had been checked in, he tried everything, from phoning their mobile phone to dialing surrounding hospitals.
They made the decision to contact the police after trying other options without success. Now, OP's fiancé is upset with him for initially calling the police, claiming that he overreacted.
He has since questioned Redditors in the AITA community if summoning the police was the right decision. Read the full story below:
OP was worried about his GF, so he called the police
Scott Rodgerson on UnsplashHe asks:
RedditShe left the house to give a ride to her friend's son
RedditInstead of returning in one hour, she was late
RedditOP went through all phases - wondering, anger, and finally worrying. So he called the police
RedditShe came home around 7 A.M. with the craziest story
RedditOP called the police to say she is home, but they insisted on visiting her to make sure
RedditPolice officers showed up at her workplace to talk to her. And now she is angry at OP
RedditRedditors have no doubts - OP had every right to be worried and call the police
RedditBut they don't buy her story
RedditOP also doubts it is the truth
RedditOP needs to look into it
RedditSomething is up, that's for sure
RedditSleeping on the side of the road instead of driving for 30 minutes?
RedditOP doesn't think she is cheating because they have an open relationship
RedditShe probably ended up sleeping, but at someone else’s place
RedditSo many plot holes in her story
RedditHer story is completely unbelievable
RedditRedditors suggested that OP shows her this thread and prove that no one believes her story
RedditShould OP pretend to believe her?
RedditRelationships are all about trust. OP is doing his best to make himself believe the story his GF is trying to sell, but it is impossible, the story is so wild that it is impossible to believe.
But then again, maybe it is the truth. Sometimes the truth is crazier than anything a human mind can make up. We hope our OP will get to the bottom of this and that he will make the right decisions concerning his future with this woman.
