Tenant Beautifully And Maliciously Complies After The Landlord Refused To Cancel The Unused Parking Space Fee, Brings In A Wheeled Container
The OP posted this story for the enjoyment of everyone

While superheroes did provide fantastic examples of how to effectively combat greed and injustice, it is unfortunate that rationalizing theft, robbery, burglaries, and the like in the name of all that is good and righteous isn't always the wisest course of action. However, there are other options - the malicious compliance types.
A Redditor told the story of a selfish landlord who refused to give up the $25 a month they were receiving from OP after they sold their car and left a parking space empty. This led to some pretty malicious compliance, which put the landlord in a difficult situation.
According to the narrative, the OP, user u/eGrant03, was only beginning to lead an adult life in the early 2000s. They ultimately chose to rent from a complex, which additionally increased the monthly cost of a parking space to $25.
If you have a car, are injured, and can't be bothered to find a parking spot on the street, this is a very nice deal. However, the OP eventually stopped owning a car, so they weren't as dependent on a parking spot.
Furthermore, the use of the car was no longer necessary because the local food shop delivered, public transportation wasn't all that bad, and it was paid for by the OP's employer.

"Essentially, I could park "a motorcycle, scooter such as vespa, car, truck, suv, or trailer" in the space"

The OP then approached the complex's leasing office, the landlord. The receptionist was asked to stop the charge, and she promised to check into it.
Although it was unclear whether she actually did, OP was charged another fee. So just relax and read the full story below.
Back in the early 2000s

The OP's car was a junker

Three months into the OP's lease

No car replacement

Removing the extra charge

The same woman stated that she was still waiting for a response

Well, the response arrived roughly three days prior to the rent

You don't want to stop the parking space charge? Okay, then!

In essence, it was a NO

The long and short of it is that the agreement would have to be terminated and a new one initiated in order to do away with that specific cost
In turn, this required covering any early termination fees. In addition, a new contract would be written with a new market rent price, which was an additional $1,000.

The OP seemed to let it go until they were evaluating the contract for another topic a few weeks later

It matched the bill as long as it had wheels

So, OP managed to locate a wheeled container that was considerably smaller than a shipping container

OP joyfully parked the container in their parking space after spending $700 on the container and $30 on the trailer registration

The container was registered

It covered the OP's water bills

The OP sold the trailer

Other neighbors copied the idea

The complex amended the new lease

If you need an example, this is what the post's author meant, though in actuality it was considerably smaller

Speaking of the landlord, their most recent effort to "address" the problem consisted of establishing additional regulations, which they were unable to impose on already signed leases. They, therefore, provided six months of free storage, although few took them up on it.
They were made worse by the fact that tenants may transfer their leases, which meant doing so with the old terms—including the exception for trailer parking—along with them. The present was never-ending.
Additionally, the author made additional adjustments by adding more details about some of the complexities of the circumstance

Drop off to the complex

He approached me first

Lease change

I'm done renting here

I wasn't privy to those decisions

A month to month fee

Rent can still go up

The tow company

They still exist

My neighbor cancelled at the end
