40 Of The Most Bizarrely Funny, Gut-Wrenching, And Heart Warming Make-A-Wish Requests Made By Children As Shared On A Reddit Discussion
Battling with a life-threatening disease is never an easy ordeal for anyone. Processing that kind of news as an adult is daunting, to say the least — can you imagine a child subjected to it?
A child that young is supposed to have their whole future ahead of them. They are supposed to be enjoying their childhood instead of being carted to doctors' offices and exam rooms.
But dealing with the cards that we're dealt with is what we do as humans. We hold onto hope that things will get better and the child we so cherish will get the chance to fight another day.
It's easier to stay optimistic when a family has a strong support system during turbulent times like these. The village is not limited to friends and relatives, and sometimes, help can come from strangers through organizations.
The most prominent example of this is the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For more than 40 years, the organization has been granting the wishes of kids battling serious conditions.
In the US alone, a wish is granted every 34 minutes, and in total, the foundation has fulfilled more than 520,000 dreams worldwide. The first wish that started it all was made by Christopher James Greicius, who had been diagnosed with leukemia.
He wanted to be a police officer for a day, and his community in Phoenix came together to make sure it came true. Since then, many more wishes have been sent to the foundation, and here are some of the oddest & simultaneously gut-wrenching ones.
