Nature's beauty can be seen in its animals, plants, landscapes, and skies. Its mystery can be found in its intricate ecosystems and unpredictable weather patterns. Its awe can be experienced when one takes the time to sit and marvel at its complexity and beauty.
And macro lenses are the best things to show us the beauty of small creatures like insects. Niki Colemont is a nature photographer living in Belgium.
She began macro photography five years ago, inspired by its difficulty and underrepresentation in the photography world. She has since sold her macro equipment in order to focus more on wildlife photography.
Without taking any courses, Niki has taught herself through trial and error. She is proud to have won a prize with one of her pictures. Macro photography is harder than 'normal' nature photography, as it requires the use of specialized equipment, such as close-up filters or extension tubes, to achieve the desired level of magnification.
Niki was motivated to start photographing animals with a macro lens to diversify her nature shots and try something new. Seeing macro photos taken by other photographers excited her to begin this type of photography.

Nature's power is also something to be admired. Its ability to shape our world, heal, and create new life is simply amazing. We can witness its power when we witness a thunderstorm, an erupting volcano, or a powerful earthquake.
Nature also has the power to transform us as individuals. Being in nature can be calming and uplifting, helping us to appreciate the beauty around us and to be more mindful of our surroundings.
Finally, nature has the power to bring us together. Whether it's camping, hiking, swimming, or simply enjoying the view, nature can be a great way for us to connect with each other and with the world around us.
