Miraculous One-Eared Kitty Shares Positivity With Delighted Cat Lovers Everywhere
Penny is surely a lucky cat, and that's putting it lightly. Her Instagram account is full of vibrant photos of a happy, white kitty cat, and her purrsonality spreads kindness, humor, and smiles wherever she goes.

Her story began a lot harder, though, at 5AM one fateful morning in November of 2019, a cat-loving woman named Melanie was woken by her cat, alerting her that something wasn't quite right. Melanie told us:
"As I got up, I could hear what sounded like a cat fight outside. Assuming it was our outdoor cat, I grabbed a flashlight and ran outside. The cat screaming continued, but sounded like it was moving. Following the sound I saw something run beneath our vehicle. When I knelt down, I saw a possum dragging something with white fur. I scared it off, ran around the truck and found little Penny! (We don't dislike possums nor do we want anyone else to and have never before or since had any problems with them and the cats.)"
Melanie continued:
"e assume she was a stray as no neighbors had kittens and we had seen stray cats in the area. She was about 6-8 weeks old. Needless to say, it was love at first sight! "
The attack was no minor inconvenience, the kitten was injured.
"Her right ear was cleanly severed in the attack and although it healed without issue, her ear canal sealed closed. Because of this she has some issues with directional hearing."
That certainly fits the bill of "lucky," if you ask me! Penelope, or Penny, started out in the wrong place at the wrong time, but couldn't have been luckier to be so close to such a caring human.
Penny is approaching the age of two years old now, and the face of a successful Instagram presence.
Melanie said: "Penny will turn two this September. We aren't sure of her birthdate so we chose Sept. 18th."
Penny lives and loves life alongside her "brofur," Henri, an absolutely adorable ginger kitty cat (yep, the same one who alerted Melanie that a rescue needed to happen!)
Melanie told us:
"Penny is the quietest, calmest, most laid back cat we've had! She is never naughty or destructive ( except to her cardboard boxes!)"
To be fair, who doesn't love a good cardboard box?
Penny lives a good life with Henri and Melanie.
She has lots of fun:
"Currently her favorite toy is a stuffed fabric goldfish. She also loves fuzzy puffballs and most recently a large unicorn kitty tunnel!"
And gets plenty of tasty treats:
"naba Churu squeeze up treats are her all time favorite! "
Seriously though, she really loves cardboard boxes!
"One of her funniest habits is shredding cardboard boxes. She bites the edges, pulling pieces off... and has been known to completely destroy the sides her favorite boxes, leaving practically only the bottom! (We call it "remodeling ".) In our house,, you'll always find multiple boxes in various states of demolition."
Penny is described as the "one eared wonder cat" and proudly proclaims "different is AWESOME," which is completely true.
You can never have too many pawsitive and uplifting stories and cats in your life, Penny is definitely the sort of cat you won't regret keeping up with on social media.
