Enjoy These Adorable LOLcat Images Photographed By Their Pioneer Harry Whittier Frees
The best part of these photographs is that they are in their original form as there were no computers and editing software at that time.

The pioneer of LOLcat images was Harry Whittier Frees. He was an American Photographer born in 1879 and passed away in 1953.
His cute photographs show cats dressed up in pretty dresses and set in different situations just like human beings. The dresses of these cats were made by Frees's mother.
The best part of these photographs is that they are in their original form as there were no computers and editing software at that time. In his own words, Frees shares:
“These unusual photographs of real animals were made possible only by patient, unfailing kindness on the part of the photographer at all times.” The stiffness of the dresses helped in positioning and managing postures of the cats.
The first-ever photograph of cats that Frees took was in 1906 at his own birthday party. A paper party hat accidentally fell and adjusted itself in the cat's head thus laying the foundation for Frees's ideas.
His own cats namely Fluff and Rags were the main subjects of his photographs. He also frequently used his friends and neighbors' pets as well where the setting required it.
