Some people don't mind their felines being outdoors. In reality, it's bad for cats to wander outside on their own.

When a feline becomes an outdoor cat, its life expectancy greatly decreases. This is because outdoor cats face more dangers than indoor cats.

They can get into fights with other animals, get hit by cars, or catch diseases from other cats. Also, outdoor cats might eat things they shouldn't, which could make them sick.

So, while it might seem like cats enjoy being outside, it's much safer for them to stay indoors where they're protected from these risks. Additionally, keeping cats indoors helps protect local wildlife and prevents them from hunting birds and other small animals.

The Reddit post we'll look at today is from the "Am I The A**hole?" (AITA) subreddit. The original poster (OP) is a woman who was asked by her friend to babysit for their cat.

The OP was given some instructions on how to care for it properly. Moreover, the owner made it clear that if the cat goes outdoors, it needs to be leashed.

Unfortunately, the OP didn't follow her friend's rules. She lets the cat out without a leash and thinks that the cat appreciates her deed because it's having fun.

The OP admitted this to her friend, and as you would expect, the friend got angry at her.

The friendly clearly stated that she's not supposed to let the cat out without a leash. So why is this even a question?

The OP tells the community that her friend is out on a holiday, so she was asked to pet sit for the friend's cat.

Just from looking at what she wrote, you can already tell that the OP knows nothing about cat safety.

People on the AITA community have been telling her off. She obviously knows nothing about why cats are generally indoors.

The instructions are clear. There was no need to break it.

The cat could've run off from the property and get injured because of her negligence. Her friend's reaction is also understandable.

She entrusted the care for her cat to the OP, and the OP can't even follow simple instructions. Of course she'd be mad.
