Teen Leaves Friend Group Because Of The Constant Jokes, Doesn't Care That They Are Trying To Make Things Right

Ready for some teenage drama? It's just what you need to get your mind off some serious life problems.

OP has been the butt of the jokes in the friend group for some time now, to the point of being asked to bark on calls and go by various nicknames. OP recently realized they don't enjoy being in this role, so they sat down with the group to have a heart-to-heart on New Year's.

While the group has tried to consider OP's feelings, they still make jokes that unintentionally hurt OP. This and the incident of one of the friends lying to OP has led OP to decide that they're done with the group.

Without explanation, OP blocked their friends on social media, which led to the question of whether OP was in the wrong for leaving suddenly. OP felt that their (ex) best friend should have known how they were feeling about everything, even without them mentioning it.

They appreciated the group's attempts to take their feelings into consideration but didn't always appreciate their jokes, such as jokes about smelling bad or farting a lot. OP felt that their friends should have grown up and treated them right.

After their (ex) best friend lied to them about a surprise visit from another friend, OP decided they were done and sent a final farewell message and blocked everyone on social media. Their decision was sudden but deserved.

OP doesn't feel like their decision to leave puts them in the wrong, and they also don't feel that they should have to explain themselves to their friends as to why they left, so they haven't.

Maybe OP should give them more time before writing them off

Friend groups can be complex and ever-changing, with each person playing a unique role in the group's dynamics. It is up to us to decide if we will conform to the group's dynamics or leave. We may choose to join in and become an active participants in the group's activities, or we may decide to remain on the periphery, content to observe from a distance.

OP made his choice. Good or bad - time will tell.
