Italians are proud of their cooking, and the entire world knows that. They have a reason to be proud, after all; they are the ones who created pizza.

Not to forget that they know how to cook a dish as common as pasta in more than a thousand diverse, mouth-watering ways. What's more, let's not forget tiramisù and gelato.

Actually, there is a Twitter account dedicated exclusively to Italian dishes, but it's not what you think, as the handle is not all about dishes. The Twitter handle @ItalianComments shares dishes that Italians are distraught about and cannot support.

These foods are heresy in Italians' eyes, and they have a ton to say regarding them. The profoundly engaging Twitter account @ItalianComments has over 100k followers and they upload everything that has to do with Italian dishes, particularly food that is so far removed from conventional cooking that you can hardly see the resemblance. 

Obviously, the foods that draw in the most engagement are pizza and different pastas. Pictures of the posts by @ItalianComments quite often contain replies made by Italians taunting the food and offering their master's viewpoint on the matter. 

Italian cuisine is the most well-known cuisine on the planet and is preferred by the majority of people. 85% of the individuals interviewed by YouGov concurred that they loved Italian food, particularly pizza and pasta.

The Twitter account has been active since 2015 and has uploaded over 1,500 tweets. You can see a pattern in the content examples that are shared by @ItalianComments.

The posts are regularly of weird food combinations, for instance, with pasta, rice, and, obviously, the sacrileges that make an Italian's blood boil, like pizzas with pineapples on them. 

Italians are their culinary custom’s greatest fans, and they will shield it when they see it being abused.

The comments under these images are just as engaging as the actual images. The Italians are not holding back from criticizing the dishes with no mercy.

They associate the food in the photographs with vomit and other terrible things. They express their disgust that somebody really eats this and go on to say that what they are seeing is an offence.

Obviously, it’s understandable that they are, for the most part, kidding, but knowing their love for their food, some part of an Italian's spirit presumably is experiencing pain seeing things on pizza that they consider ought to never be put on it.

Italian cuisine is part of their national identity and they have an entire culture encompassing it. So, it’s not surprising that they are passionate about their own dishes, as their food customs go way back.
