Redditor's Inlaws Don't Like Her Name, So They Pick Her A New One
"My name is Rynn, but ever since my ILs have met me, they have gotten the idea that my actual name is Katherine."

When it comes to stories of relationships with family-in-law, the Internet is an inexhaustible source of various situations. Even when you think you've seen and read every possible scenario, there always turns out to be so much more that you haven't heard before.
Probably, for that fact, we should all be grateful to creative parents who always manage to find a new way to show their disagreement in a whole fresh, innovative method. But likely, some experience must be involved also.
We all know that every parent wants only the best for their kid. But they need to learn to recognize the moment when it's time to step back and let the children make decisions for themselves.
Imagine a scenario where all the parents who are unhappy with their child's choice of life partner sit down and discuss their problems and possibilities for politely removing the issue (their kid's partners). Something like the book club, but we can call it a "grumpy parents club."
We have no other explanation of how an individual comes up with a completely new idea to interfere in the life and choices of their child. Or it could also be some online well-hidden platform where they can share experiences and the best methods of how to get rid of your child's unfavorite partner.
To cut a long story short, these parents-in-law renamed their daughter-in-law just to annoy her. Then they blamed her for embarrassing them, although, from this point of view, it should be the opposite.
Below you can see the whole family drama these parents had skillfully provoked. Dissatisfied parents-in-law really know how to make us admire them for their originality, and these ones deserve a medal.
Here is the issue:
redditThe OP's name is Rynn, but, for some unknown reason, her ILs don't acknowledge it and insist on calling her Katherine:
redditAt some point, it looked like they had understood that Rynn was her actual name until MIL's birthday when MIL introduced her to her guests as Katherine:
redditOP was so annoyed by this Ils action but decided to make a joke of it instead of making a drama:
redditBut still, OP's Ils found themselves so offended and even told her she had embarrassed them:
redditActually, they had embarrassed themselves
reddit"You could always just add "Kath" to the front of their names."
redditInspiration is really limitless
redditAnd OP loved the idea:
redditHere's a new suggestion:
redditOP was thrilled with it:
redditThis could also work:
redditThis is how an introduction should go with normal people:
redditTurns out there are more people like her in-laws:
redditAbsolutely NTA
reddit"They obviously play a game that is not funny for you"
redditMaybe this will help them remember her real name:
reddit"Consistently, repeatedly getting someone's name wrong is disrespectful and rude."
redditBut it's still a dumb move
reddit"You are not wrong for having boundaries."
reddit"NTA. Your name isn’t Katherine."
redditRedditors supported OP that she has every right to demand them to call her by her real name. Besides, what is wrong with her name?
Even if they don't like it, it's still her name, they should get used to it. And the quarrel they are trying to provoke is childish.
