College Student Gets Ripped For Spying On Her Hallmate's "Illicit Cat"
When does it become our business to interfere when someone else is breaking a rule?

Sometimes, people break rules. We've all done it, and we've all witnessed other people doing it, but when does it become our business to interfere when someone else is breaking a rule?
Well, one Reddit user recently turned to the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit to ask for advice on whether she had overstepped when she discovered a fellow student in her dorm was keeping an "illicit cat" in her room. The Redditor explained that no pets are allowed in the dorms, with the exception of support animals.
She said that from time to time she would hear meowing, so she decided to ask the girl in the room across from her whether she had a cat. The girl said she didn't, so the OP gave her the benefit of the doubt.
But soon after that, the Reddit user heard meowing coming from that direction again. So, she went across the hall and knelt on the ground in front of the other student's door.
The OP discovered that there was, in fact, a cat living in the room. It even pawed at her from underneath the door, looking for some company.
While the OP was still kneeling next to the door, the girl came back and caught her in the act. The Redditor confronted her about the cat, but the girl said she felt uncomfortable with the OP laying by her door.
Later, the girl confronted the Reddit user again about kneeling next to her door and essentially spying on her. The girl said if she catches the OP again, she will report her.
As always, the Reddit community had a lot to say about this. Keep scrolling to find out how they reacted.

Here's how people reacted.
"You heard meowing. So what?"

"How does this affect you? Mind your own business!"

"As long as it's loved, fed, clean, and has a place to poop, it's fine."

"No one is obliged to tell you anything."

"Don't you have some studying to do instead of spying on your neighbors?"

"Looking under the door makes your pretty creepy."

YTA!

"Snitchy."

"I don't think you had any business peeking through the door."

Everyone sucks here!

"Mind your own business!"

"Disgraceful!"

NTA.

"Stop being a snitch."

"People sneak animals into places they aren't allowed all the time."

"NTA. She's not supposed to have the cat."

“It’s not your business.”

What's your take on this situation? Do you think the OP should have stayed out of it, or was she right to interfere?
Surely the cat wasn't causing that much of an issue. But, on the other hand, if everyone broke the rules, it could definitely be a problem.
