Homeless Dog Owner Turns Down Free Housing Because Of Their "No Pets" Policy Gets Chewed Out On Reddit For Not Prioritizing His Pregnant Fiancé & Their Two Kids

House-hunting is not easy for pet owners. Some homes and apartments do not allow specific breeds of animals on their properties for one reason or another.

In those cases, it's better to move on and look for a pet-friendly property, but a tough decision must be made in dire situations. In this Reddit post, a homeless dog owner passed on free housing because they do not allow dogs in their state-provided housing.

The problem is, OP has two step-kids and a pregnant fiancé. OP started his post by saying he can see why his fiancé is so mad at him, but he doesn't think he did anything wrong.

They have been homeless for the past three months. They have been staying in a camper at his mom's property ever since because state-provided housing is scarce.

His fiancé had to stop working because of complications related to her pregnancy, and OP doesn't earn enough to provide for their almost family of five. His fiancé had to let go of her cats and have her friends foster them while OP's dog remained in his care.

His fiancé isn't very fond of OP's whiny dog. His dog demands attention most of the time and exhibits behaviors that can be dangerous, especially for someone pregnant.

The dog's behavior was manageable when they lived in a big house, but a cramped camper is not ideal for a affectionate dog like his.

His fiancé has lost patience with the dog after three months of living in a camper

Luckily, the state had a vacancy and offered a house that was big enough for OP's family. Unfortunately, they do not allow pets.

OP turned it down without consulting his fiancé and he told her he wouldn't give up his dog for anyone. OP has been told to move back in with his mom because his fiancé said she & her kids can figure it out.

That's the line of lazy pet owners. It's more like OP couldn't be bothered to lift two fingers to train his affectionate dog.

Even the most dedicated pet owners would understand why OP would have to rehome his dog in a situation like this

In what twisted world and reasoning is OP the hero in his story? How did he manage to convince himself that he was making the right choices for his family?

The least he could have done was talk to his fiancé about his dilemma as it affects their whole family, but no. Choosing the worst option is apparently the way to go.

OP better have realized something even from this comment alone because he is about to lose his entire family because of one terrible choice

OP needs to get his priorities straight because it will cost him everything he holds dear. It baffles me that he believed, even for a second that he did nothing wrong.

There were so many alternatives than unilaterally turning down free housing because they don't allow pets on their property. OP is about to become a dad, and he has to start acting like it sooner rather than later.
