Technology makes it easy to meet people, but have you noticed that it doesn't actually help transform the experience of meeting them? Tinder, Facebook, and online dating sites can all increase your opportunities for finding a partner, but for many, they just make it harder to find one you like.
In the old days, you either asked someone out on a date or didn't. Then you met in person and went to one of two places for coffee or a movie, and you could say whatever you wanted because you hadn't really gotten off on the wrong foot yet.
However, one of the biggest cons (when it comes to online dating) is a phenomenon called ghosting. You'd be amazed just how many people have been through a ghosting experience. And if we're talking about a few dates it's not even that big of a deal, but if you're talking about something more serious: it can be soul-killing.
But for a certain woman, the issue is more than just ghosting—her supposed "date" ditched her because she suggested a coffee catch up in everyone's classic favorite: Starbucks. To her surprise, the man she matched with was disgusted at the thought of having their date at the said coffee shop.
Well, she posted their conversations for the Internet to see, and the situation stirred up a whole lot of controversial discussions on Twitterverse.
This is Colleen.
She posted her conversation with a man named Matt, who she met on a dating app called Hinge. They exchanged phone numbers as they made their relationship progress outside of the app, and Colleen got the thought that it would now be a good idea to meet up with him.
So she suggested they go to Starbucks, since it's easy and convenient for them.
coll3engHowever, she got a totally different reaction than she expected.
@Coll3enGHere's a screenshot of her trying to ask the guy.
@Coll3enGBut Matt did not take this well at all. He seemed offended by the fact that she suggested Starbucks, and sent this message.
@Coll3enGThat was definitely weird, no matter which perspective you look at it.
@Coll3enGMatt then saw her viral tweet and didn't think twice on saying she was embarrassing.
@Coll3enGHere's what people have to say on the replies:
