Man’s GF Gets Criticized Over Her Appearance, And He Steps Up To Protect Her, Causing Havoc During A Weekend Trip With Friends
Weekend ruined, and so is the friendship....

Some may say that boyfriends and girlfriends come and go, but friendships are forever—and it's quite understandable to be kind of skeptical about some of our friends' current partners because we have been in their lives longer in the first place.
It's great when you all get along the first time, especially when you have a partner of your own for you to hang out with, but what happens when both of your partners don't seem to like each other so well?
That can indeed be a sticky situation to be in because as much as you would want your partner to like your friend's date, they just couldn't bring themselves to do it, especially when the other girlfriend isn't even likable in the first place.
Now, your friendship is on the brink of conflict, and you're trying hard to save your relationship with your own partner as well.
That's the case that happened to this certain Reddit user under the handle u/JanetJamesAITA, who apparently called his friend's girlfriend (which we will call Janet) a "jealous, vindictive b*tch" for something she did to OP's own girlfriend (which we will call Nicole). Scroll on to see the full story and see for yourself!
OP posted the situation under the r/AITA subcommunity, asking if he was the one at fault in the whole situation since he did say some nasty words to his friend's girl. The post has now gathered over 16K upvotes.

Let's call his friend James, with Janet as James' girlfriend. Janet seems to have this belief that natural women are better—the ones who don't do any makeup, never had any surgeries, or any modification of some sort on their body.

It just so happens that Nicole, OP's girlfriend, was the complete example of what Janet hated.

You could guess how things might've ended up when they went together for an outing. Nicole and James already get along—but she and Janet haven't been interacting much just yet.

Apparently, Janet called Nicole a "snobby bitch" for not wanting to go for a swim because it could "ruin her hair."

Janet did not stop insulting Nicole, and pushed her "natural women are better" take all throughout their dinner. OP tried to ask Janet to stop.

Nicole tried to brush everything off at first, but she reached her limit and walked out. Janet, being the Janet that she is, continued to call her names.

To make things worse, Janet apparently poured cold water on Nicole while she was taking a nap. That sealed the deal for OP and Nicole to leave.

While James did apologize, he, however, asked OP to apologize to Janet because apparently, they were the ones who ruined her "good time." Yeah, go figure.

OP ran into them at a store, and that's where the nasty words entered the picture.

Now, James is angry with him, and Nicole also thought he should've been more lenient.

Here's what people have to say:

"James appears to have voluntary lobotomy"—best phrase!

Yeah, that would've been a great.

We all know a Janet or two.

Is he not seeing all the red flags, too?

Seems like James is just a pushover.

Ah, just another set of people who think the world revolves around them!

Janet seems like a deranged version of a pick-me girl.

Props to Nicole for not stooping so low, though.

She needs an attitude adjustment

We're all confused, too.

You go ask yourself, OP!

We really are subjected to meeting people who don't align with our values in any way, and it's definitely awkward when that person is your long-time friend's partner—and you just have to put up with them. In cases like this one, though, a distance would be preferable!
