Grooming Literally Saved A Matted Dog's Life After A Professional Dog Groomer Saw Its Photo On Social Media

The difference was like night and day. Who knows how long this poor dog was left out on the streets.

Some dogs find themselves in the unfortunate situation of being abandoned by their owners. The sudden change in their environment causes the animals to be stressed and leaves them in an unsafe setting.

They are at so much risk when abandoned out on the streets willy-nilly. While dogs can pretty much care for themselves in terms of superficial grooming and shelter, they are domesticated pets who need people to make sure they are in the best health possible.

When dogs are neglected and abandoned for a long time, it's their grooming that becomes the most obvious issue. They naturally attract ticks and other parasites to their coat which can cause a lot of serious health issues.

Once their fur isn't taken care of, it begins to mat and tangle. When it gets worse, the knots literally pull on their skin and hurt them.

The emphasis on dog grooming is not just for aesthetic purposes after all. It is costly but it is essential for your furry friend's well-being.

A dog groomer's attention was caught when she saw the sad state of an abandoned dog on her social media feed. Whitney, the professional dog groomer, drove for 45 minutes to rescue the abandoned pup and help.

She knew immediately that she can't just ignore this dog who was first spotted by a grandmother and her grandson. When Whitney saw the dog, it was in the worst shape imaginable.

She didn't hesitate and immediately reached out to the people who found the abandoned dog

She was also treated to a warm (possibly medicated) bath after the intense grooming session

Another groomer apparently saw the dog on social media and was grateful that someone lent a much-needed helping hand

Someone offered to pay for Whitney's services...

... but she kindly declined saying she wasn't looking for any rewards and just wanted to help the dog

There was no shortage of people who reached out to help Whitney and the dog

The dog was surrendered to a rescue organization so they can find someone to foster it

The poor dog felt safe again and was free to be dog without worry

Whitney was so invested in this dog's journey that she posted another update

Her foster family brought her to a vet and they found out all the health issues she's been having

If she wasn't rescued, the dog would have suffered for God knows how long

Looks like the pup found a foster parent who loves her

Whitney was contacted by someone surprising...

... it was someone claiming to be the dog's owner. The dog finally has a name... it's Lucy!

Lucy's family just survived an abusive situation and unfortunately, Lucy suffered the abuse as well. Look at her state when she was found:

We feel for Lucy's original owners and the abuse they suffered. However, we fervently hope that they never find themselves in the same situation ever again— for their sake as well as Lucy's.

Lucy didn't need to suffer outside and fear for her safety. It's incredible that Whitney found and rescued her; the single act alone as well as the love and support they received saved Lucy's life.
