As far as graves go, this one in Natchez City Cemetery, Mississippi, has quite the story behind it. It may look like your average grave, but you will notice something fascinating when you take a closer look.
The grave belongs to 10-year-old Florence Irene Ford, who sadly passed away in 1871 from yellow fever. When the little girl died, her mother, Ellen, had her daughter's casket made with a small window installed where her head lies and a stairway built-in to the grave-site, which goes six feet down to the level of the window.
You may be wondering why on earth Ellen would have done what she did. Well, apparently, Florence was petrified of storms, and each time there was one, she would seek comfort from her loving mother.
