Family dynamics can get tricky sometimes, especially when money and/or possessions become a factor.

Reddit user u/Icy_Tangerine_8078 recently posted about this exact topic in the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit. The original poster started by explaining that her parents never wanted her, so her paternal grandparents raised her.

The OP says that her grandparents did the best they could for her, whereas her father was "kind of a dick hole." He was never interested in getting to know her.

The Redditor said that her grandparents have a lot of cool collectibles. Her grandfather has lots of old tools, and her grandmother has some antique kitchen gadgets.

OP's grandfather also has a vintage muscle car. The Redditor said she is getting married soon, and her grandparents decided to gift the car to her.

The grandparents told OP that she could do whatever she wanted with the car. So, after discussing it with her fiance, they decided it wasn't something they could really afford to keep.

They decided they would keep the car until they got married, have some wedding photos with it, and then sell it. But when OP's father found out about it, he was angry.

The Redditor's dad assumed that the car would be given to him. So, the OP told her dad that if he had the car appraised, she would sell it to him.

Her father got it appraised, but he couldn't afford to purchase the car easily. He told his daughter she was "being a b***h" for holding his past actions against him.

OP's fiance suggested that they come to a compromise since her dad wants to keep the car in the family. But the OP says she doesn't want her father or half-brother to have it and would rather sell the car to a stranger.

The OP's grandparents are happy with the idea of the car being sold after the wedding. They are content knowing that the money will go towards helping them buy a house.

But now OP is wondering if she's wrong for keeping the car from her dad. Keep scrolling to see how people reacted.

What's your take on this situation? Do you think the OP is being unreasonable, or is it understandable for her to feel the way she does under the circumstances?

Either way, the car was gifted to the OP, and it's her decision what ultimately happens to it. Perhaps her father should have been more present in her life if he wanted to be a part of it.
