Woman Wildly Oversteps When She Tries To Convince Boyfriend And His Siblings To Postpone Overseas Vacation Because She Can't Take Time Off Work

Fitting into your significant other's family is not always easy. A 32-year-old Redditor had a great start with her boyfriend's family.

She was invited to their month-long overseas trip. The trip was planned by her boyfriend and his siblings years ago.

It was a special holiday for them and their significant others. OP has known about this trip even when she and her boyfriend were just friends.

He invited her along once they were sure their relationship was long-term. The problem is that OP has other work commitments she cannot afford to miss.

Her promotion depends on the certifications she will receive from these mandatory training sessions. OP decided to prioritize her career over the overseas trip with her boyfriend and his siblings.

She was distraught when she informed her boyfriend about her change of plans. She suggested a few alternatives to her boyfriend.

She said they could go on the trip as a couple and then join his family on another trip in the future. OP's other suggestion was for them to convince her boyfriend's siblings to reschedule the trip to early next year when she is available.

Her boyfriend rejected her suggestions. He said the schedule worked better for everyone else and that it was timed specifically by his siblings who wanted a vacation by themselves before they had to plan vacations around their children.

OP essentially tried to use her boyfriend's family to change his decision. Her expectation that what she did shouldn't be a big deal to her boyfriend is massively alarming.

OP acted selfishly. Plain and simple.

OP only thinks of herself, so other people's time and schedule do not factor into her decision-making.

Probably for a few hours. She doesn't deserve to stay in their minds that long and ruin their vacation more than she already did.

How ironic is it that OP complained about her boyfriend refusing to see the situation from her perspective? She didn't want him to understand where she was coming from, she wanted him to blindly go with whatever she wanted.

The nerve of this OP! She wanted consideration when she didn't even think for a second about how important this family trip was to her boyfriend.
