You can spread covid to other people if you have it. You can take precautions to prevent transmitting it to others, such as isolating yourself, wearing a mask, and avoiding contact with those who are most likely to become really ill.
People with proven or suspected covid are isolated from individuals without covid. The use of a mask alone is not sufficient to provide an adequate level of protection against covid, but still, masks should be used as part of a complete strategy of actions to suppress transmission and save lives.
The original poster of today's story shares how his girlfriend's family all tested positive for covid. Despite knowing this, they still went out anyways because they just didn’t care.
OP's girlfriend didn’t know that her family tested positive for covid. They all kept it a secret from her, but she eventually overheard her mom talking to the doctor on the phone about her brother, who was having breathing problems.
The OP got to know, and he told his girlfriend that they all had to quarantine, but they refused to do it. Now the OP is at risk, too, because they basically hid it from him, too, and now he's exposed.
OP's mom is immunocompromised, and they all knew that. The OP has decided that he can’t trust his girlfriend's family, and she's upset about his decision.
Still, the OP has refused to be sympathetic.
