At least, that's what most good friends would do, surely. After all, we all make mistakes, and things happen, but it's what we do to make things right that really matters when all is said and done.
However, apparently, not everyone is so remorseful about their mistakes. Reddit user u/MountainCamel4073 recently posted in the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit. He shared a story about how he let his friend's dog out after taking a little too much marijuana.
The 12-year-old dog named Gibson had gone missing after escaping through a gate that the OP had left open in his drug-induced stupor.
The Redditor claims that he went looking for Gibson for three days and couldn't find him. He said his friend was sending him hate messages and asking for money.
The OP says he feels bad for letting the dog escape, but that his friend is being "ridiculous." So, he decided to ask the Reddit community for advice, and (as always) they had plenty to say.
The thing is, with the bulk of Reddit users saying that he is indeed the a**hole in this situation, the OP may not have received the response he was hoping for. And, after the Redditor's update on Gibson, we can't help but agree with the majority here.
Apparently, the OP found Gibson in a field but was then debating whether to return him to his owner or take him to live on his uncle's farm. In another update, the OP said that Gibson had died naturally.
So, what did people have to say about all this? Keep scrolling to find out.

"The real victim here is the dog."
What's your opinion on this situation? Do you think the OP is the villain here, or is he actually the victim of being drugged?
Either way, there's no denying that the poor dog was the real victim. And, more importantly, what on earth happened to Gibson for him to end up dead?
