Eating healthy can be hard, especially when all you want is to sink your teeth into a glorious chicken nugget. Alas, with beach body season always looming around every corner, we have to control ourselves. A balanced lifestyle works best, and it is helpful to work out what kind of diet works best based on you as an individual.
According to a new scientific study (one that I personally will be implementing into my lifestyle, because, you know, science), the juicy deep-fried option loaded with carbs and sodium might just be the best option the next time you're planning on ordering takeout. The study, led by Professor Eran Segal in Israel, monitored the rise of blood sugar levels, physical activity and sleep habits among 800 individuals consuming identical meals.
The study found that people's bodies reacted very differently to the exact same foods - for example, one person can eat French Fries to their heart's content and not feel any negative effects, and may even experience positive effects when eaten in moderation.
The reasons for this include genetic makeup, lifestyle, bacteria response to food, controlled diets, and a whole myriad of other factors. If your body doesn't agree with the diet that you try, this might just be why you can't stick to it (this doesn't justify your lack of self-control, though we wish).
Professor Segal concludes, the study shows a need to "develop personal dietary recommendations that can help prevent and treat obesity and diabetes, which are among the most severe epidemics in human history”.
