Best Christmas Present Ever - Man Receives A Free Blockbuster Box From His Wife

Remember the days when you would head over to Blockbuster on a Friday night, excited to rent the newest movie? It was a night of anticipation and adventure!

You'd explore the store's aisles, browsing through the endless options of movies and games, dreaming of the possibilities. You'd chat with the friendly staff about what was new and what was popular, and then you'd make your choice.

Finally, you'd grab the movie box and head to the counter, feeling the thrill of taking something home with you. It was a different experience than what we have today with streaming services. It was an experience of discovery and surprise, as you never knew what you would find at Blockbuster.

Then, you'd watch the movie that night and be part of the conversation the next day with your friends. It was a different time, and while streaming services are convenient, they will never replace the feeling of adventure and anticipation that Blockbuster provided.

Ryan P (@comedyryan1) was surprised to receive a free Blockbuster box as a Christmas gift from his wife. This box was created by the group FreeBlockBuster.org, which aims to provide free movies to people in the same way that free libraries distribute books.

The idea for these boxes came from a former Blockbuster worker who repurposed unused newspaper dispensers. Ryan mentioned that the organization sent his wife a kit and used it to make the box.

Blockbuster was a chain of video rental stores that operated from 1985 to 2013. It was one of the world's largest movie and game rental companies, with over 9,000 stores at its peak.

Customers could rent movies and other media either online or in-store. The company also offered a mail-order DVD and Blu-Ray rental service.

Blockbuster went bankrupt and closed its final stores in 2013. Back in the 90s, Blockbuster was a well-known brand, but it could not compete with streaming services like Netflix, which caused most of its stores to close in 2013.

However, there is one still operating Blockbuster store located in Oregon. And now, there are dozens more across the country thanks to this group.

We wish Ryan the best of luck on his new retro adventure! We hope he and his neighbors have a blast.
