Moving in with an old friend would sound like a fantastic idea to anyone. I mean, what could possibly go wrong? Turns out, quite a bit—especially when your friend is a night owl with a penchant for partying and his cat is the neediest furball in existence.

Our narrator’s (Original Poster’s) friend was the kind who enjoyed late nights out, fueled by a bit too much booze. Sometimes, he didn’t even bother coming home. This wouldn’t have been such a big deal—except for his cat.

Let’s talk about this cat. He was a piece of work, that one. When his owner was out gallivanting, he paced the halls like a restless ghost, meowing at shadows.

If the shower door was open, he went ahead to use it as his personal litter box. Yes, you read that right – feline turds in the shower.

OP once laid down a nice rug when they newly moved in. A touch of home, right? Well, within weeks, it was shredded to bits by this feline vandal.

He also had a knack for waking OP up at ungodly hours. At 4 AM, he’d rub against OP’s door until they were jolted from their dreams.

Sleep deprivation is a serious thing, folks. So, it was only natural when OP devised a little payback plan. When their roommate was out, and OP was all alone with the troublesome cat, they patiently waited for him to doze off, then shook him awake.

Oh, the irony! The tables have turned, furry friend. The sweet sounds of his startled purrs almost made up for all those interrupted nights. Almost.

OP has a mischievous habit of gently shaking their roommate's cat awake when he is asleep, this is a playful revenge for the cat waking them up at night.

Some might call OP petty, but desperate times call for desperate measures. The cat’s antics have driven them to the edge, and they’re simply just trying to reclaim their sanity, one catnap interruption at a time.

So, there you have it: a human, a cat, and a late-night showdown. The battle continues, and OP might just be winning. Well, at least for now.
