Many people nowadays like naming their kids something ”unique” that stands out. The only problem is； most of these names do actually stand out but in a negative manner. 

When you give your kids a name that only you and a few select people might find cool, you ensure that your kid will always stand out negatively for the rest of their life. You might think it's cool at the time, especially when something is trending, but your child will be the one suffering in the future. 

Besides odd, obnoxious names, some people go one step further and pick a regular name but with a “unique” spelling. It never fails to make you cringe whenever you see these odd spellings out in the wild. 

A Redditor who goes by the username u/dk-Cobain made a post on the r/AmItheA**hole subReddit where she explained how she told her sister the name she chose for her baby sounds like a dog's name. The user's sister had a negative reaction to the user's opinion about the name, so Op felt unsure whether she was in the wrong.

It was a sign that Op needed to convince her sister.

People are just freestyling the spelling of their kids' names nowadays.

She asked a question and received an answer that she didn't like and got offended.

The name is typically a girl's name.

She shouldn't have asked if she knew she won't be able to handle the truth.

That was OP's opinion, and she has every right not to accept it.

If you ask someone for their opinion, you need to be ready to handle it.

It would be weird to give your baby that name.

Parents need to chill a little bit when it comes to naming their kids.

OP simply gave her opinion after the sister asked for it.

OP could have phrased her opinion better.

They make sure their kids have to struggle with something from the get-go.

The sister's kid might get teased because of it.

The kid will forever be tied to that show.

OP simply gave her opinion, and it was not her fault that her sister couldn't handle it. However, she could have chosen better words to express her dislike of the name and avoided this problem entirely.
