Funerals are hard, and so are broken relationships. So, when you combine the two, it's fair to say that drama will ensue.
Reddit user u/TurtleScurvy recently found this out the hard way. And she posted about it in the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit.
The original poster explained that she had been very close with her ex's mother. They knew each other for a long time, way before OP started seeing her son.
So, when the Reddit user found out that her ex's mother had passed away, she was understandably devastated. And, although she didn't receive an invitation to the funeral, the OP went along to pay her respects.
The OP explained that she is currently pregnant with her ex's child, which is difficult because he is now back with his wife. The Redditor expected there to be tension between herself and her ex's wife, so when she arrived at the funeral she sat at the back to avoid attracting attention.
But, unfortunately, that strategy didn't go to plan because OP's ex's wife approached her, informing OP that she was "not invited" and should leave. Talk about making a scene!
However, the OP said her ex's brother intervened and reassured her that she was indeed welcome. He then put his arm around OP and led her to the front rows which were reserved for family.
A little while later, the Redditor says her ex's kids noticed her big belly and asked if she was pregnant. Their mother responded by saying, "Yes darlings, she just can't stop making them."
OP bit her tongue, however, then the youngest child asked her if the baby might have her red hair. Of course, their mother had an answer for that too.
"God forbid," the mother said. So, OP said, "Maybe, but your dad has brown hair, so the baby could look exactly like you guys."
Well, that didn't go down too well, and the OP received a call later that night from her ex. He said she was out of line for telling the kids about the baby without asking him and his wife first.
The Redditor later added an edit to her post to explain that the relationship she had with her ex was not an affair. Her ex and his wife were separated at the time, and they dated for a while.
She also said her ex and his wife already knew about the pregnancy before the funeral. Keep scrolling to see how people reacted.

Reddit/vilepixieWhat's your take on this situation? Do you think the OP should have stayed away from the funeral, or did she have every right to be there?
Considering her ex's wife was personally attacking her, it's understandable that the OP retaliated. Perhaps everyone should have been a tad more respectful in this scenario.
