Lily's parents kicked her out on her birthday without any notice. Lily has been couch-surfing in different homes.

She is thinking of dropping out to get a full-time job. OP did not want that to happen and offered Lily to stay with them until she graduates.

Once that was finalized, OP's daughter and Lily organized a community barbecue / bake sale to raise funds for Lily. OP never asked them to do anything, but the considerate teenagers wanted to help cover some of the added living expenses.

They made flyers to distribute and social media promos to spread the word about the fundraiser. Lily added a personal message on the flyers and social media posts.

She talked about her parents kicking her out without money or a car. Lily shared how OP's family took her in without asking for anything in return.

She explained that the fundraiser is her own way of paying for her expenses without burdening her friend's family. The post was shared by their community and schoolmates.

As a result, the fundraiser was a hit. Their neighbors, family, family friends, and schoolmates showed up for Lily. They raised a few thousand, which OP keeps in an education fund she's planning on gifting Lily near her high school graduation.

Lily's parents got wind of the honest social media post regarding the fundraiser

OP got a call from Lily's dad accusing her of slandering their family online which OP found funny. She blocked him.

She then got a call from Lily's mom who accused the teenager of being ungrateful after everything they've given to her

OP dismissed everything the parents said
