Tony Quiroga, Car and Driver’s annual comparison Editor in Chief, said that one of the reasons that this car made the top choice is the experience it delivers to drivers, which is actually similar to that of a gas-powered vehicle.

"It has a bunch of features that allow it to mimic a gas car. It has a shift mode that imitates having 8-speed transmission, when most EVs have one speed and you accelerate endlessly," Quiroga Said.

“I think people are looking for some familiarity when they move into an EV. Everyone is pretty much a first-time EV buyer, and having that anchor of familiarity is something people want," Quiroga said. 

Electric vehicles will do better if they feel familiar for gas-powered car drivers.

Another reason that this vehicle made the top choice is because of the fast charging which claims it can go from 10% battery to 90% in just 35 minutes. It also has a long range for mileage on the battery when on highway travel, making this desirable for consumers.
