You will never truly understand the pain of a terrible roommate until you live with one. A year into living with an entitled 20-year-old is enough to convince this renter to move elsewhere as soon as possible.
OP and her girlfriend will not renew when their lease ends. To say that their roommate is the understatement of the year; after all, she contains multitudes of other terrible characteristics.
To our delight, OP shared a few of her roommate's habits that she loathes. She is a messy person but never cleans.
She doesn't buy groceries but helps herself to OP's food. Ironic because she came up with the rule that they should buy their groceries and make food separately.
She once let mold grow on her dirty dishes because she didn't want to wash them. She doesn't give advance notice when she has visitors coming over.
Her guests make a mess which she doesn't tidy up. The most recent shenanigan happened when OP got home and saw her roommate's new date sitting on their couch.
He was playing with OP's keyboard. The keyboard she keeps in her room which means either her roommate or her boyfriend went into her room to take something without her permission.
OP shrugged that off and started preparing dinner for herself and her girlfriend. She only cooked enough for two people and promptly set that aside.
Her roommate went into the kitchen, looked in the pot, and asked where was the food left for her & her boyfriend
RedditShe asked her to make more when OP said she didn't cook any for them
RedditOP told them to order in or dine out, but her roommate said they don't want to spend money when she thought OP was making enough for four
RedditOP said that's her fault for assuming things. She encouraged her to cook something for her guest. Coming from an upper class upbringing, roommate is not used to doing things herself and expects everyone to cater to her.
RedditOP's roommate wasn't done complaining and told OP to make something easy for her and her guest. The boyfriend said OP was a rude host for not offering food to a guest. OP didn't like that and refused to acknowledge his existence.
RedditHer roommate posted on Twitter about what happened and her followers are calling OP out. She has a running tally to count the days that OP refused to apologize.
RedditOP added that she didn't dwell on the keyboard stealing, but she did tell her roommate it wasn't okay. OP's girlfriend also gave their roommate a piece of her mind about going into other people's room.
RedditOP needs to stretch her saying-no muscles and use them against her entitled roommate
capmanor1755She has been a walking red flag of a roommate all along. Even her mom doesn't want to live with her. Considering that they have housekeepers to deal with her mess, that says a lot.
[deleted]OP must be counting down the days until they can move out of the devil's lair
AvocadoSaltShe pays the least rent and acts this entitled?
RedditShe's racist, too? Roommate cannot pick a struggle!
RedditWe've never met this woman and even we are tired of her crap
endearinglysarcasticTerrible behavior towards animals is such a good tell about a person's character
[deleted]What is she doing breaking into other people's rooms? OP should take stock of all of her belongings before moving out, because this girl might just have sticky fingers.
RedditSince roommate wants to be public about this drama, OP should respond the same way
CaptainBaoBaoShe needs a taste of her own medicine. See how she likes being humiliated.
RedditThere's definitely a racist layer to her treatment of OP
throw05282021It's time for OP to stand up for herself because this roommate is a truly terrible person
bellastarkkkHer roommate's defenders can all live with her and experience the joy of her entitlement
embopbopbopdoowop,OP needs to ask her girlfriend for tips on how to deal with her "friend." She is horrible to OP because OP is quick to let things go.
She's so entitled that she even wants OP to apartment hunt for her. We wish this woman's next roommate good luck — they're going to need a ton of it.
