This Man's Enormous Poop Nearly Killed Him (True Story)

So, this is a story about a man who ended up in hospital - and almost died - because he was so severely constipated. Yep. This man had nothing else wrong with him, other than he needed to pass a ginormous poop!

At first, he had the doctors stumped. He had no prior serious medical issues and no history of drug abuse. No signs were pointing to anything obvious.

However, after a rectal examination and scans of his abdominal area, it was revealed that the man had fecal compaction to the point that it was putting his life at risk.

There was so much fecal matter that it had distended his large intestine and was putting pressure on his right iliac artery, which began causing pain and paralysis in one of his legs.

“Significant fecal disimpaction was performed manually under general anesthesia with approximately 2 liters of feces removed.”

2 liters!

The man had to stay in the hospital for four days and was given constipation relief during recovery. He was not able to walk for thirteen days!

Doctors are still unsure what actually caused the huge build-up, but it's clear that it is definitely dangerous to avoid (or be unable to) go to the toilet for an extended period of time.

In 2015, a teenager died after avoiding going to the bathroom for 8 weeks due to a toilet phobia. There is no doubt this man would have ended up the same if he had have waited much longer to get help.

As they always say, "better out than in," but more importantly, always listen to your body and when it tells you something is wrong, always listen.
