"Encanto," Disney's newest film, has wowed critics as well as the general public. Mirabel Madrigal, the film's leading lady, has managed to win over admirers with her portrayal of the character.
What makes this movie special is the fact that there is no traditional villain. The main character is not fighting some sinister-looking evil mastermind.
It's about an internal struggle, relationships between generations, and a journey of self-discovery. It shows how important family is and the difficult decisions we sometimes have to make.
As you get older, you realize that the world is not black&white. People are not completely good or bad (not counting murderers, rapists, and other psychos).
It's just a matter of that period in life when you've met them. Most people have backstories that perfectly explain their behavior now.
And once you get to know these stories, you suddenly find yourself empathizing with them and not judging them. Encanto gave us a chance to get to know many interesting characters, and that's its value.
Disney was always famous for creating wonderful characters we fell in love instantly with. But this time, it's more of a love at second sight.
At first, we don't like them and do our share of judging, but later we find out how wrong we were, and the tears start dropping. And it turns out that we are not the only ones feeling that way – just take a look at all these Twitter and Tumblr reactions.

TwitterKeeping the family together in difficult times requires some difficult choices. And people who grew up happily because of the hard decisions made in the past can’t understand why older folks behave as they do.
Just take a look at the grandmother. She is rigid, and her actions are sometimes hard to understand, but the pieces come into place once you get to know her story.
Hard times give birth to strong people, and strong people create good times. But, unfortunately, good times give birth to weak people.
You can figure out what comes next. Grandmother was probably trying to prevent that.
