Man Tells The Truth About How He Was Kicked Out On His Eighteenth Birthday And Embarrasses His Father In Front Of Friends

Kids need the love of their parents, especially when they are young. They should be brought up in an environment that is free of toxicity and full of love, care, and attention.

Sadly, the OP never got the attention or care of his parents all through his eighteen years of living with them. His parents were too religious to commit an abortion, and as a result, the OP pretty much raised himself until he was kicked out at eighteen years of age.

It hurt the OP to be rejected by the people who were supposed to love him. The OP is now twenty, and his parents reached out and started by profusely apologizing.

The OP wasn’t sure about getting back in contact, but they seemed genuine and even wanted to meet in person. The OP showed up at the restaurant expecting a quiet dinner and a heart-to-heart; instead, he found out that his father’s fraternity had rented out the whole place for a 25-year reunion.

The OP got talking with the other adults his age, where he revealed he was kicked out, and that was his eighteenth birthday present. The others were in shock at this revelation, and it somehow got to their parents' ears, and they all gave the OP's dad some distance.

You only work on a relationship if you choose, even if the other party reaches out. But when they prove they only reached out to get something from you, then you have every right to bail on them.

OP's parents showed they only got in contact because they wanted something, and many Redditors advised OP never to give them another chance.
