The Christmas family dinner has all types of scents in the air, like the cookies, the chimney transmitting that great warmth and many dishes prepared to stuff you like a Thanksgiving turkey. What could go wrong on such occasions?
Reddit user TheOA12345 tells her story loaded with unexpected developments. Well, everything appeared to be totally fine and her first Christmas dinner with her partner’s parents was going fine until it abruptly wasn't.
The author was raised to eat as much as her stomach could hold in order not to disrespect the host, so she filled her plate and had another when she was prompted by the host. How, then, could you be able to deny yourself some coffee and a slice of cheesecake as well, right?
Getting a strange look from her partner during dinner, which she made nothing of, getting yelled at, and being called fat for not having any manners was far from how the author imagined this wonderful night would end. Much to her dismay, however, Arabian dining manners are very peculiar to what one is used to, as going to a guest's home on an empty stomach is an indication of disrespect in the culture of the Arabs.
We didn’t know that, at least the author of the story didn't, plus she wasn't cautioned with regard to any of this, and afterward, she was faulted for her lack of "common knowledge."

logirl1975After a couple of quick messages, she at long last found his lies, as the tables had been turned and it ended up that the entire fiasco was mixed up in interpretation. He did not refer to her as "fat", just "greedy" (as if that’s any consolation) and her partner used that as a cover up.
Well, it happens that his dear parents have some monetary issues, and he simply needed to not share the weight of their tough situation, particularly before their first Christmas dinner together.
