Teenagers can sometimes get out of control, they become defiant and disrespectful, and parents never know what to expect. It's common for people to say that “it’s just a phase,” or that they're just “being a teenager,” but sometimes, there can be much more to it. 

A teenager's behavior will change when they start to seek individuality and as a way of asserting their independence. It's one of the toughest things parents can deal with; they start questioning their parenting techniques and wonder what changed that their methods no longer work.

However, if the teenager's behavior starts affecting them or others in a harmful way, it can no longer be considered a normal teen phase. Troubled teens often resort to being verbally abusive, stealing, or using and abusing substances.

A Redditor who goes by the username u/tthrowaway16__ made a post on the r/AmItheAhole subReddit where she explained how her son suddenly started behaving differently and his recklessness even lead to endangering his sisters' health. OP's daughters complained about mean their brother was to them.

OP confronted her son about what her daughters said the next morning.

OP did not accept her son's excuses and told him she could no longer trust him.
