When it comes to working, people usually look at big companies because it sets a notion that it could provide them with a stable job. However, many know that a lot of these companies have done–or are doing–something fishy on the sidelines—and with people's awareness nowadays, together with the power of social media, it does not end well most of the time.
One of the controversial topics in relation to businesses’ shady activities is labor fairness. Ever since the pandemic, the discussions about this have been even more amplified.
The focus of these discussions usually concerns the minimum wage of workers. Their expenses are getting harder and harder to settle even when working 40 hours a week as a minimum wage employee.
Many of these people have shared their experiences on social media, especially the delivery drivers and food service workers. Many are constantly surprised at how these crazy stories have actually happened to these employees.
To incite people to apply, fast food companies are now offering incentives to their future employees. But, not everything that looks good comes without a hidden motive.
Domino’s Pizza has recently disseminated a poster regarding their work incentive for their employees who complete a particular working streak. Unsurprisingly, an individual–Tiktoker Denycia–examines said announcement and catches the attention of many viewers.
Tiktok, the platform, is notorious for containing all sorts of content in the form of vertical videos. It is not a shock that someone will be having a closer look at Domino’s statement and have it gain traction.
Denycia posts many assorted contents including tarot readings, relatable skits, advice, and her thoughts about certain topics, especially religion. In this particular video, however, she shares her views on Domino’s Pizza.

TikTok | @denyciadawnIn Indiana and Kentucky, delivery drivers have a chance to receive $10,000 as a bonus. The mechanics of this “Survivor– Driver Edition” involves employees officially clocking in on time for 60 days straight without interruption.
“If there are numerous people that participated and made it to the end, they divvy that $10,000 up evenly amongst all of the employees. And then start another round. [The promotion is] so insulting to the working class.”
TikTok | @denyciadawnOf course, it is understandable that a lot of people would want to take part in this challenge. After all, the big pot money is an enticing motivation to work regularly.
“People that are a part of this competition have a minimum 60 days, minimum two months, and the contest concludes at 90 days”
TikTok | @denyciadawnSome of the Tiktok users have also shared their thoughts by commenting on Denycia’s post–they were understandably upset. Here are some of them:
This person doesn’t agree with the company’s statement. Especially since the weather is not the best for when people are out on the streets, the health and safety of the delivery drivers are at risk.
TikTok | @denyciadawnThis setup is done, not for the minimum wage employees, but in favor of the higher-ups. It’s disguised as an incentive, but it’s actually not.
TikTok | @denyciadawnIn contrast, there are a handful that don’t find this deal so bad. After all, the workers have a choice, and they can choose to participate or decline.
This person says that Domino’s Pizza’s incentive idea just confirms that he should not order from them again. He hasn’t purchased anything from them since a few months ago.

Business is business. No matter how enticing an offer is, taking a step back and examining the details closely can make you realize that, most times, there is a catch.
In situations like this, you–as an individual–must know what your priorities are, and not jump at something that may be only disguised as a bonus. Do you think that Domino’s Survivor challenge was done in the interest of their employees?
