Daiki isn't happy with his mom for sleeping in, and he's letting her know.
Dogs are one of the most intelligent animals on the planet. They can learn hundreds of words and perform complex tasks. But what about when they're not happy? What's going through their minds then?
Recent studies have shown that dogs can express disapproval in a number of ways, from facial expressions to vocalizations. And while it might be funny to see your dog give you the "stink eye" when you've done something they don't approve of, it's not an experience you want to endure often.
One woman might have the most relatable story when it comes to dogs expressing disapproval. Sandy and her Golden Retriever, Daiki, have given us something to laugh about and think about regarding dogs and their emotions.
Who would have thought that dogs could be so expressive? Certainly not Sandy, who overslept and forgot to take Daiki for his morning playtime. She woke up to find him standing by her bed, giving her the most judgmental look she's ever seen.
Thankfully, Sandy was able to catch "the stare" on camera. Now, the internet can enjoy this hilarious moment and learn a thing or two about how dogs communicate their feelings.
Let's see what Daiki has to say about his sleepy mom.
Earlier this week, Daiki's owner, Sandy, woke up to discover her dog standing beside her bed. The dog's disapproving stare made it plain that Sandy had overslept that morning, forgetting to take him out to play.
Sandy explained that;
He made noise with his little legs to wake me up. He wanted to go out and play. And when he wants something, he stares at me.
Daiki looked at Sandy with a stern expression as if to say, "Really?... So you're still in bed?"
If you've ever had the displeasure of being on the receiving end of your dog's disapproval, you know that it can be quite funny and discomforting at the same time. It's like they can see right through you and know exactly what you did wrong... ad their criticism is often spot-on.
It's all part of their charm, though, and we wouldn't have them any other way. Thankfully, Daiki didn't have to wait long for Sandy to get up and take him out to play.
Daiki may have been a tad bit impatient that morning. However, the fact that he could communicate his feelings to Sandy is one of the many reasons she adores him so much.
In her words;
He is very intelligent, but also has lots of character. He’s so expressive with his little face.
If this story has taught us anything, it's that dogs are much more expressive than we give them credit for. Best of all, they are absolutely hilarious when they're not happy with us.
So, the next time your dog puts on their "judgy face," remember that they're just trying to tell you something. And try to take it as a compliment! After all, they wouldn't waste their time judging you if they didn't care.
