Owner Gets So Angry At Dog For Eating Kids' Meals That She Wants To Put It Down, Wonders If She's Insane For Considering It

"I told them they would have cared for him when he was alive."
Taking care of a dog can be a big responsibility. Owning a dog requires a commitment to meeting the dog's physical and emotional needs on a daily basis.
This includes providing the dog with food, water, and a safe place to live, as well as giving the dog regular exercise and attention. It also involves keeping the dog healthy by providing regular veterinary care and following any recommended treatment plans.
In addition, it is important to be responsible for the dog's behavior and ensure that it does not harm others or cause property damage. Overall, owning a dog requires a lot of time, effort, and commitment, but many people find the rewards of dog ownership to be well worth it.
However, some people don't give their dogs even the most basic care. OP brought a family dog that no one cared for to their home.
The dog was given to OP's cousins but wasn't well accepted. And it didn't have the best life in that home.
So, they gave him to OP's grandparents. Once OP had the dog cleaned and professionally groomed, the aunt suddenly wanted the dog back.
But even then, it wasn't cared for properly. When the dog got cancer, they didn't take it to the vet, even when OP offered to pay for part of the expenses.
OP paid for the vet, cared for the dog, and cremated it after it died. They brought the urn with the ashes to their home. Now, aunt and cousins want the urn with the ashes.
Of course, OP doesn't want to give it to them. "I told them they would have cared for him when he was alive, but they don't listen."
As we've mentioned, dogs require significant care and attention and are a long-term commitment. If you are not prepared to make the necessary time and financial commitments or cannot meet the dog's physical and emotional needs, it is best to wait until you are ready to own a dog.
OP was clearly the dog's owner since they took care of it. And they have every right to keep the ashes.
