The owner was in shock after it happened.
There are more dog owners now than ever before and while most of us love dogs and it's a good thing that more people are getting dogs because that means that more shelter dogs are going to be adopted. The only issue that rises with the increased popularity of dogs is that there are a lot more people out there with dogs who don't know the proper way to handle them outside, especially in crowded dog parks.
There's a reason that a lot of people, including people who are educated on the matter, don't recommend dog parks because no matter how well-trained your dog is, you never know what the other dogs are like. This can lead to a lot of issues and a fight between dogs can break out of nowhere and before you know it, something terrible can happen to your poor pup.
One such terrible thing happened to Reddit user u/fractal_turnip so he decided to post his story on the r/Dogtraining subreddit to ask for advice after his dog got injured after a fight with another dog in the dog park. In his post, he explains that his dog got into a fight with another and when he and the other dog owner separated them, he picked up his dog to leave the park and that's when the other dog bit his tail off.
He took his dog to the vet immediately and got surgery and he's fine now but OP isn't sure what to do because he doesn't know how the dog is going to feel about going outside anymore. It's needless to say that the owner is in shock but thankfully, the good people of Reddit were there for him, and they provided the advice he needed to get through this terrible time.
It's awful to hear that something so terrible happened to this poor dog and we hope that the owner doesn't blame himself too much because dogs are super unpredictable. The advice he received is solid and hopefully, it will help everyone who reads in this so the same thing doesn't happen to them.
