Girl Takes Her Well-Trained Young Dog To A Park And Gets Scolded For Not Having It On A Leash
"Some people think every dog is a ticking time bomb."

Dogs are among the most unique animals on the planet. I'm not sure what we did to earn man's best friend, who gives us unwavering affection, hugs, and company. With all of their hilarious peculiarities, our canine counterparts can be wonderful sources of amusement as well.
But they also need a lot of care. While we all have our families, jobs, friends, and hobbies, our dogs have only us.
They are relying on us to provide them with everything they need – including company and activities. That’s hard to do if you live in a city and an apartment.
You don’t have many choices – you can walk the dog down the street, but that won’t provide it with the activity and socialization it needs. Doggy daycares and dog parks are good solutions.
But not all cities have dog parks where you can take your dog off leash. One Redditor had a disturbing experience when she took her dog to a park where dogs are allowed to be off lead.
Namely, some people are not comfortable around dogs and believe they should be leashed everywhere.
“I(19 female) have an 11-month-old malamute that is very well trained and is a very sweet girl. I normally always go to a certain park to walk her off lead there because it’s a big park but it also has kids there. Some people always say I should go to a different park but I always ignore it,” she says.
But this time it was different:
OP asks:

She has a young dog, and she usually takes it to one specific park

Dogs are allowed to be off lead there

This time, someone approached her and he was persistent

OP got scolded for having her dog off leash

OP has no one to ask for an objective opinion. So, that's were Redditors come in...

But they were not on OP’s side:

Some Redditors have very strong feelings about this:

Some of them have bad memories

Someone said, and they were right:

And it was a call for people from other countries to share their opinion

And people from the US:

Some Americans agree with OP

Follow the rules:

Vets say:

If the kids are not comfortable around free-running dogs, their parents should take them to parks with leash rules

People who have reactive dogs say:

There are plenty of parks to go to:

Yes, the title is misleading

That's America...

Dogs are not ticking time bombs...

Well, what do you think? On the one hand, the fear of dogs is legitimate. And you can’t argue with that.
But then again, that fear is probably caused by some unpleasant experience with an untrained dog. Should all dogs suffer because of some specific dog’s actions?
We kind of feel for both sides here. The only answer is to raise awareness and make people train their dogs.
But how can you make irresponsible dog owners do that?
