“He’ll pick it up and run in circles with it covering his eyes."
One of the reasons we love dogs so much is that they are so goofy. They love us, protect us, but also make us smile. Dogs, like people, all have their own quirks.
And Diesel has several adorable traits that make his family love him even more. For example, the 4-year-old Weimaraner enjoys wearing clothes, and his favorite treats are cucumbers.
“He’s the funniest little guy,” Kelsey Bundy, Diesel’s mom, says. “He loves wearing bandanas and bow ties, his tail never stops wagging — he’s like a wind-up toy!”
One of Diesel’s most adorable quirks is the way he plays with his toy teddy bear.
The adorable pooch loves his squeaky toys, but his favorite is his toy bear. When Diesel is playing with it, he ignores all the other toys- maybe because he can’t see them.
“He’ll pick it up and run in circles with it covering his eyes,” Bundy said. “I swear he must have sonar because I don’t understand how he never runs into anything.”
Bundy isn’t sure whether the whole eye-covering thing is intentional or not. But she knows that it’s the only way Diesel will carry his favorite toy. The Sit Means Sit Dog Training writes that Diesel may be doing this to please his mom by making her laugh or possibly show submission.
“They increase the frequency of those behaviors when they get positive feedback from us,” Sit Means Sit writes on its website. “If you react positively when your dog places their paws over their face, cooing or petting them, they’ll be eager to receive that feedback again.”
“If your dog views you as their pack leader, hiding their face communicates their deference to you,” it explains. “Your dog is just trying to let you know that they trust and respect you!”
Diesel’s mom says that no matter what the reason is, it’s completely adorable.
“Seeing him and his brother when I get home from work is the highlight of my day,” Bundy said. “He’s my shadow and follows me from room to room, wherever I go. I can’t imagine life without him.”
