Some of the times, it can be embarrassing and difficult to be a single mother. People are unsure about how to react to you as a single parent; they may choose to ignore you, feel sorry for you, or inquire later with their friends about some juicy story about what happened.

Also, divorce is awful and sometimes, it cannot be avoided. You may be certain that it's the best decision for you and your family, but it's still not the result that anyone had in mind when they saw you hold a bouquet and exchange rings in front of God, the caterers, and all of your friends.

Life can become more difficult for you, your children, and their other parents after even the nicest divorce. And divorce is far too frequently the opposite of friendly.

OP and her cousin were very close growing up until she had a planned pregnancy and got married the day she turned 18. When she told the OP about it, she was called selfish and irresponsible. OP told her she was setting her kid up for failure because she wanted to be a wife and a mom before she was financially or emotionally ready.

Though the OP's words might have been harsh years ago, she was only a teenager at the time and only wanted what was best for her cousin. The cousin, who is currently 25 years old, has, however, referred to OP as a gold digger and has criticized a policy that is intended to safeguard the OP.

Redditors say both things can't be compared because there is no positive intention behind something like that. The OP was declared not the AH and that is where we draw the curtains!
