Disney villains are fantastic. Even though they are doing all sorts of bad and nasty things, they are charming. They are created so well that we simply love to hate them. And we do hate them so much.

They are giving poisoned apples to innocent girls, taking away voices from poor mermaids, or plotting to take over their brother’s crown… You name it – they’ve done it. But what if we could look at them without the animosity?

Character designer Audrey Hopkins decided to take it one step further and turn famous Disney villains into princesses. She wanted to make us look at them from a different perspective.

She shares her work and the creative process on TikTok, and the internet loves it. But, now we have so many mixed feelings. Should we hate them or love them?

Gaston - Beauty and the Beast

Gaston is the key villain of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. He is an egotistic and bigoted hunter who wanted to make Belle marry him, even by force. He simply couldn’t believe that she wasn’t interested in such a handsome guy.

Eventually, his obsession turned him from a harmless egocentric guy to a ruthless killer. His anger culminated when he found out that Belle chose the Beast over him. He is one of the most famous villains in the Disney universe.

Hades - Hercules

Hades is the key villain of Disney’s Hercules. He is a God of the Underworld with a nasty temper and a big grudge against his big brother, Zeus. Hades devises a plan to take over Mount Olympus and the universe, but one prophecy says that a hero will defeat him.

Jafar - Aladdin

Jafar is the villain in Disney's Aladdin. He is a Royal Vizier of Agrabah and the Sultan's advisor. In public, he comes off as incredibly loyal to the Sultan, but in reality, he can't stand him and wants to take his place.

Jafar devoted his life to finding the magic lamp and the genie who lives in it. Controlling the genie would enable him to take over the throne and the entire world.

Dr. Facilier - Princess and the Frog

Dr. Facilier (AKA the Shadow Man) is the villain in Disney’s The Princess and the Frog. He is an immoral, persuasive witch doctor who plots to rule New Orleans by using his “friends on the other side.”

He came from a poor family, so he grew to hate the rich and successful. His biggest object of hatred was the most powerful man in the city, Eli “Big Daddy” La Bouff.

Facilier tried to defeat his rival using voodoo and even offered the souls of New Orleans’s citizens as a reward to his “friends on the other side.”
