Cat Owner Notices Cat Behaving Strangely And Finds Out She Was Severely Dehydrated
Thankfully, the cat was saved in a nick of time.

Animals have their own ways of communicating with us. And even though some behaviors are common to the whole species (dogs shake their tails, cats purr), every specific animal has its own body language.
Dogs are a little bit easier to read because they are always so obvious, no matter if they are happy or sad. But cats are different.
They send out subtle signals that something is not okay and they want us to read them. Correction- they expect and demand that we read them and sometimes those signs are not so subtle, but it doesn’t make them any easier to read.
We can only tell that something is bothering the cat, but not what it is. To be honest, they get annoyed by a lot of things, so you can’t be sure if the animal is in pain or simply doesn’t like your music playlist.
One Reddit user shared a story about how he misinterpreted his cat’s signals, which could have been fatal. Take a look - maybe you will learn something.
It could be especially useful for people who live with both cats and dogs. Things that are perfectly fine for your dog can be hazardous for your cats and vice versa.
OP says:

He got a little kitten as a Christmas gift. He named her Cissy

He soon found out she was blind, but that made him love her even more

Cissy didn't let her handicap stop her... She is a playful cat

She also had some bad habits... really bad

Throwing plates all over the place...

So he got her a jug feeder. His dog got one also

The dog has a bad breath

Cissy started acting a bit weird

OP thought she was having separation issues. and than his fiancée noticed bumps on her head...

OP took Cissy to feed her, thinking it would make her feel better

And then it all started coming together...

OP pours her water, and she is drinking like crazy. The poor thing was dehydrated.

Cat was just trying to tell him...

Cissy is okay now, and OP answered a couple of questions:

Poor thing can’t groom herself

Other Redditors shared their experiences

And, yes, they do have their strange rituals...

But sometimes it’s just to mess with dogs:)

Great fun!

Some cats only drink fresh water

Or boiled and filtered...

One Redditor made a good remark, and all cat owners should remember this:

Food and water additives should be administered only with the vet’s approval. And they are specially designed for dogs and cats.
Even things like flea repellents can’t be used on both species. No need to mention that giving your dog cat food and the other way around is bad, right?
Luckily, our OP had figured out what was wrong in time, and Cissy is now completely fine. But it could’ve ended a lot worse.
One of the most common ingredients in breath fresheners for dogs is citric acid, and cats don’t respond well to it.
