Lady Threatens Her Entitled Sister Of Going To A Debt Collector If She Doesn't Pay What She Owes, Redditors React

People owe, and that's not a new thing but where the problem lies is that they may not pay back. When people owe creditors money, creditors use debt collectors, especially when the payback is long overdue.

The lender or creditor can assign the account to a debt collector or collections agency when a borrower defaults on a payment. This usually occurs, depending on the creditor, three to six months after default of payment.

A fixed charge or a predetermined portion of the money collected is given to collectors. You can also be turned over to a debt collection agency if you miss payments on your credit card, loan, or other ongoing debt.

Receiving frequent phone calls and letters from the organization seeking to collect the debt can be a distressing experience. The OP knew this which is why she threatened her sister to use the debt collector to take back her money.

The OP first lent her younger sister $1600 so she and her boyfriend could rent their own place. OP's younger sister said that she wouldn't be able to pay her part back until she got her tax return.

OP's sister and her ex broke up, and she was left to pay OP back. She took another loan from the OP to form a website for her photography business.

Now she can't pay it back, and the OP threatened to go to a debt collector. Read the full story for yourself below.

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the AH:

The action that I took was telling my sister that I'll go to a debt collector if she doesn't give me back the money she owes me. This action may make me the asshole as she is family and that apparently you are not suppose to treat family that way.

Debt collectors are independent businesses that pursue the collection of debts on behalf of another business. Redditors say the OP shouldn't have given her money a second time since she was aware of her habits.

Going to a debt collector will probably cost the OP money as well as damage the relationship with her sister. Redditors were of the opinion that everyone in the story sucks and that's a wrap.
