Mother Gets Rude Awakening After Reddit Community Calls Her Daughter "Bully" And "Horrible Child

As a parent, it's fair to say that you'd do anything to protect your child. And, if anyone hurts or upsets your little one, they'd have you to deal with.

But what if that person is another child? Reddit user u/Tiny_Meat3441 has been in this situation recently, and she shared her story in the r/AITB (Am I The Buttface?) subreddit.

She explained that her daughter, "Casey," is currently in middle school. Casey is the OP's only child, and she means the world to the Redditor.

The OP says her daughter loves practical jokes and will often play pranks on her friends and family members. Casey likes to make people laugh, and she doesn't mean any harm with her jokes.

But recently, there was an incident at Casey's school, and the OP was called to a meeting with the principal. When the OP arrived at the school, Casey was sitting with another girl who had paint on her shirt and was crying.

The principal said that Casey had poured paint over the girl's shirt during art class. In retaliation, the girl pushed Casey and shouted at her.

The principal told the OP that Casey had been giving the girl a hard time for about a week. So, the Redditor was confused as to why this was the first she had heard about it.

Casey was given lunch detention for a week and three days of in-school suspension. She was also no longer allowed to participate in her class's end-of-year party, and she had to write an apology letter to the girl.

When the OP asked what punishment the other girl would receive for pushing Casey and shouting at her, the principal said he couldn't tell her—in other words, none. But the OP wasn't going to let the girl get away with hurting her daughter.

Casey told the OP she didn't mean to upset the girl; she was just joking around. But the girl called her a nasty name and punched her.

Casey said the girl was "weird" and "gross," so the OP scolded her for name-calling. However, the Redditor says she disagrees with the harsh punishment her daughter is receiving from the school.

The OP says no one else has ever reacted so harshly to Casey's jokes. Now, she's wondering if the girl will be punished at all.

The OP's husband told her she should leave it be, but she says she's considering going to the school board. Now the Redditor is wondering if she's the buttface here.
