As kids, our parents are our ultimate protectors. They take care of us, look out for us, and they have our backs no matter what we do or how much we may disappoint them.

So it's only natural that, as we (and they) get older, we do the same for them. But what happens when our parents do the wrong thing or act inappropriately?

Reddit user u/lovely__lia-chan shared a story in the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit on this exact topic. You see, the OP works in a deli washing dishes, and her mom is a regular customer there.

The OP says her mother would buy the deli's popular fried chicken and potato wedges three times a week. But when the OP's mom approached one of her colleagues and began making transphobic comments toward them, the OP decided she would have to take matters into her own hands.

Her mother made it clear that she intended to continue harassing the OP's coworker. So the OP spoke to her manager and explained what her mother had said and what her intentions were.

Needless to say, the next time the OP's mom called the deli to place an order, the manager informed her she'd been blacklisted and was no longer welcome at the store. Immediately, the OP's mom realized that her daughter had something to do with it and was very angry.

But the OP says she doesn't feel bad and doesn't regret what she did to protect her friend. Keep scrolling to see how people reacted.

Recently, the OP's mom made some inappropriate comments about one of her coworkers and their sexuality.

So, what's your take on this situation? Do you think the OP overreacted by having her mom banned from the deli, or did she do the right thing to protect her friend?

Either way, it is never okay to harass someone at their job. We all have the right to feel safe when we go to work.

As always, we would love to hear your opinions on this. You can share your thoughts with us in the comment section.
