It's erratic, untidy, sometimes borderline ugly, poorly drawn
This webcomic has a huge fan base because of its distinctive dark humor and ToothyBj is the brains behind it. The artist has more than 120k followers on his primary Instagram account, where he shares his art.
"I'm a designer, going back and forth between the branding and product team inside the company I work for. The comic is actually a departure from that world, it's erratic, untidy, sometimes borderline ugly, poorly drawn, etc," the artist reveals.
He also talked about what drives him to keep making comics and what he finds most fulfilling about being a comic book artist.
“For sure it's the community aspect of it. You know how nice it is when you tell a joke among friends and make a whole room laugh, now take that to the extreme. It's a rush, but it is earned, so it forever keeps you on your toes, and that, I would say, is my motivation. To keep earning people's laughs.”

Striking a balance between the artistic and commercial components of comic book illustration, including marketing and advertising, appears to be a challenging undertaking. The artist talked about the level of difficulty he faces saying:
“I barely balance it, I make little to no money from this (If you want to support me hit my Patreon! Help me take less freelance work). It's a hobby, so any free time I have, I try to stay active. I haven't done merch in a long time, it's a hassle. Love everyone who has shown me support so far, really hits you when someone goes out of their way to show their appreciation and support.“
According to the artist, a good comic tries to surprise you one way or another, so you should take this and run with it. He advises intending artists not to be so conceited and not to produce self-centred comics.
