When parents split up it is hard for everyone, but especially for the children. Sometimes it takes the parents a long time to really come to an agreement between themselves and the children on who has custody or what the agreement will be.
Unfortunately, parents don't always know what's best for the child either and sometimes it can be extremely hard for them to figure out a good agreement. We are getting front seats to this story between a woman and her ex-boyfriend who have a child together but can't seem to agree on a custody situation.
The mother goes on to explain the situation on how they had an agreement but then explains what happened for her to give up custody of her children. This story hit Reddit quick and people had a lot to say about it, but probably not for the reason you're thinking.
Both parents in this situation seem to be thinking mostly about themselves instead of the children which is one of the main reasons that they can't agree on who gets custody of the children. It's not very common that you have two parents fighting over the fact that they don't want custody of the kids.
Let's look at this story and see how Reddit responded to this mother asking for advice.
Here's the start of her story.
kidthrowaway76She goes on to explain more, but then we get a peak into an edit she made as well.
kidthrowaway76Clearly, the comments are split.
overidentifymuchThe comments started rolling in. Some on her side and some not on her side.

sylvanwhisperSome people think she's NTA and that this is a typical case of "fun" dad and "strict" mom situation.
DGinLDOEHS is what a lot of people are dubbing this one because of the way both parents are acting.
sequinsmileHonestly who can imagine a life without their children. It would be anyone's worst nightmare.
Frequent_InevitableExactly, because I would.
Spotzie27People start sharing similar experiences they've had or witnessed.
wannabecerseiAnother NTA comment saying that men do this all the time, but it's always a big deal when a woman does it.
Pand0ra30_This is probably true that he didn't know exactly all it took to be a parent and deal with things that she was dealing with.
Realistic-Animator-3Another comment comparing this to if a father did it.
louloutre75It doesn't sound right to me either that she just kind of gave them to him and started a new life.
AccessibleBeigeVery true. The father is manipulating the kids and therefore manipulating their entire situation and agreement.
No_Performance8733This Reddit user agrees with the mom and says that the dad put her in this situation and gave her no choice but to act that way.
Slumbering_OafThe dad manipulating the kids is so sad and it makes me worry about those children.
ThrowawaycarstoreThis comment says it all.
No_Performance8733Three points that are important in this story.

Automatic_Western_50This is one of those Reddit stories that take you on a wild ride through that story but the Reddit comments continue the wild ride. It's always interesting to see when the Reddit comments are split and what their point of view is.
